Sanctuary - Durham Cathedral

The calmness and moodiness of this glorious creation, cloaked in a snow flurry.  It stands splendidly against the grey skies, still giving refuge to weary travellers, curious tourists, and many, many return visitors who want to soak in the atmosphere once again.  This was once a safe haven for those unfortunate to be accused of a crime, and the sanctuary knocker has a history all of its own.  If the word awesome stands for something, it stands for Durham Cathedral.
